Rev. Lady Avalon Starr

Office of Fire

Bright Blessings!! My name is Avalon. I am honored to be a part of Sacred Circle and hope that I do my duty well in the Office of Fire. I was raised as an Army officer's brat, we lived all around the world, moving with my family every 4 years. I learned a lot about social acceptance, friendship and diversity in my travels. I was raised and baptized LDS. I was able to explore other religions and am a little OCD when it comes to knowledge of any kind. I explore until I am dead tired but filled with knowledge. I had a hard time accepting the male based attributes of the LDS church and started searching for something more feminine that I could relate to.

At about the age of 16 I came across Earth based religions on my quest for spirituality and started practicing with herbs, stones and crystal energies. I began to realize about 5 years ago that what I had been practicing was Wicca for 14 yrs.

I dedicated myself to the Wiccan Path, the Goddess and Her God on February 11th 2007 with my Sacred Circle friends and took on the magickal name of Avalon Starr. I was ordained as Clergy for the Church of the Sacred Circle at Imbolc of 2010 and took the mantle of Rev. Lady Avalon Starr.  I am married for the third time, now to my soul-mate and best friend Scott, and we have 4 children between the two of us ranging from teen to tweens. I love that this church is so family friendly. We love being members, the kids have a great time!! I am a Cosmetologist of 15 years and also am a licensed instructor. I work at a salon in Sandy and offer hair care, skin care, and body waxing services. Thank you Sacred Circle for your never ending support of the Pagan community !!

Office of Water

Hello my name is Emeralde. The Church of the Sacred Circle has been a blessing to me and my family. I knew very early on after attending just a few services that I wanted to be more involved. I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve as Office of Water.

I have completed the introductory class and the self-initiation class that the church offers and I continue to seek knowledge on my own. I love mother earth and all the plant allies that live here. I am currently pursuing a degree in horticulture and plan to go on to take an herbalism course.

My immediate family (husband and children) have been very supportive of my involvement with the church, so at any given function you may see as few as zero kids with me up to my whole gang which includes my dearest husband, three step-daughters, five daughters, three sons, two sons in law and a grandbaby on the way.

A little bit about my background. I was raised extremely LDS I was not allowed to even see what other religions were out there. This seemed very wrong to me. When I was finally out of that influence I met a practicing Pagan who taught me a little bit and I also read many books, but it wasn’t until about 2008 that I truly dedicated myself to living an earth based life. I also encourage my children to seek their own truths.

Thank you Church of the Sacred Circle

Blessed Be,

Emeralde

Office of Earth

Hello! My name is Demetria. I feel very blessed to be able to assist Sacred Circle Church as the Office of Earth. I was born and raised in California Bay Area. I went to private schools up until the 7th grade, when I transferred to public school. While I wouldn’t necessarily call myself sheltered up until this point, going to public school opened my eyes to the many differences that exist between people. I caught up really quick, but I think it gave me an understanding of the different backgrounds which people come from. I think it also showed me that not everything was as my family taught me. I grew up in a Baptist church, and I always felt there was something that just did not sit well with me.

After changing to public schools, I gained a few new friends, and I then went on to become a member in several youth organizations, including Job’s Daughters, Rainbow Girls, and minor participation in DeMolay (the boys group).

I moved to Utah to further my education in 2003. I attended Weber State University, where I graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. I then went on to American Intercontinental University – Online, where I received my Bachelors Degree in Organizational Management.

Since I was about 13, I have been interested in Earth based religions. I have studied many different areas since then, and have become familiar with Tarot and Oracle reading, crystals and candle magic. I had been a solitary practitioner until after I moved to Utah. I became a member of the Sacred Circle Church in February 2007. I am also a fully participating member of the Order of Our Lady of Salt. I have put my heart into both of these organizations ever since.

I have served Sacred Circle Church as their Members Advocate since July of 2008, and I am now really happy about continuing my service as the Office of Earth. I was ordained as Clergy for the Church of the Sacred Circle at Imbolc of 2010. I hope to see many people at the events of the church and I hope everyone will attend the many different workshops, fairs, circles, drumming and other events that I am sure will be upcoming in the near future. Blessed be!

Office of Spirit

By our tradition, I became of age at eight years old. Thus, my grandmother, the wise healer of our clan gave me a name which meant from that moment on, my relations stopped referring to me as "child", and I became known as Elena, member of the Clan of the Owl, free to pursue my destiny and find my own gifts and calling.

I am Elena (which in our language means moonlight), daughter of Nicole, daughter of Marie (Mitxa). Women of Yaqui and Aztec blood, dedicated to the learning and understanding of the ways of healing, blessed and protected by the spirit of the Owl.

I came to Utah ten years ago, after serving for two years with the U.S. Embassy in the Congo (Zaire) Africa . My service with the U.S. Government allowed me to live in places like Korea and Europe, but I remain fondest of the native people of Africa , from whom I learned much. My professional background includes public speaking, 12 years of corporate training and Employment and Civil Rights Law.

My personal interests include community activism, mainly in the field of civil and human rights, the environment, and working with youth. I'm blessed with a loving family whom has always been very supportive and respectful of my lifestyle (which includes being a modern-day Pagan with old-fashioned views). I enjoy writing short stories, reading and gardening (although not fully successful at it yet!-the gardening part).

I practice the way of life of my ancestors, with some minor differences due to my interest in Wicca; and therefore you could say my practice is a mix of the old religion and shamanistic practices as well. I worship the Moon (and live my life by it's influence and cycles) and have been known to pray to Athena for guidance. Like my grandmother and my mother before me, the study of herbalism and healing are essential to my practice in order to assist those around me. I live my life with full intention, and apply what I learn everyday so I can be guided by a simple sense of wisdom and love for my surroundings

I am thankful for the Church of the Sacred Circle , their awesome and caring people, and for the friendship they have offered me. I respect and count them among my circle of friends, and welcome the opportunity to serve our community in any capacity.

I was ordained as Clergy of the Church of the Sacred Circle on Imbolc 2010, and was called to serve the Church of the Sacred Circle as the Office of Spirit by the Board of Directors at Lammas of 2010.

Long life and blessings,
Rev. Elena Grayowl
